The recent pronouncement by President Akufo-Addo that, the former president and the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama, is inconsistent, as he flip-flops on issues of national development, is the most insincere statement coming from a man, whose presidency, has been full of make-overs, do-overs and turn-arounds.
This unfortunate statement from the president, has regrettably, become a routine of some sort and business as usual, as he never minces words to describe president Mahama, in terms that best fit him.
The president, who is a pot, has the habit of calling the kettle. Everything he accused president Mahama of doing and pledged as a candidate, not to repeat, he has done worse, than all his predecessors combined.
A case in point is his promise not to run a family and friends government. At the last count, the number of family members and the friends of Akufo-Addo, including baby Mama's in his government, are in excess of 50.
It is on record that, Akufo-Addo's government is the most corrupt government in the history of the fourth republic. Akufo-Addo's, his anti-corruption profile Ghanaians were sold in 2016, has faded. He promised Ghanaians that, he was going to use the Anas Armeyaw Anas's principle to fight corruption, but corruption is rather fighting anti-corruption crusaders.
The thinking of the president Akufo-Addo is that corruption is the preserve vice of his opponents. It is what appointees of former president Mahama did, and it is what Akufo-Addo's disciples are incapable of doing.
Akufo-Addo, has shielded and cleared all his appointees accused of one corrupt act or another, this hypocritical attitude, is a predictable waste of time, scarce resources and energy of the nation, and should be rejected by all well-meaning Ghanaians.
The president has as recent as this week, rescinded his decision to sack the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere East, Mary Boatemaa Marfo.
This comes barely a week after she was dismissed for allegedly vowing to reduce the votes of the NPP in the Effiduase-Asokore Constituency during the December 7 polls.
It is the considered opinion of this newspaper that, president Akufo-Addo, has flip-flopped more than any president in the history of this country.
