Soon Ghana Will Be Named After Akufo-Addo

Soon Ghana Will Be Named After president Soon Ghana Will Be Named After president

At this point, no one can tell what president Akufo-Addo, will do next, as he keeps surprising even his own supporters, with decisions that clearly signify many firsts.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has achieved many firsts. Indeed all over the world leaders remembered for being different, for thinking outside the box and charting a course that changes the destinies of their countries.

What is president akufo-Addo's game, since he became president three and half years ago, he has reset the forward match of the country.

He has outdone all his predecessors in all the parameters that are inimical to the success of this country. His record in cronyism is unmatched, as his government can best be described as, Government of Family and Friends, by Family and Friends and for family and friends.

Corruption, has become so pervasive that, those who have been mandated to fight it by the Constitution, are being fought by the establishment and have almost become endangered species.

He has emboldened his appointees to the extent that, corruption has become a competition and the old age maxim of honour among thieves, no longer find expression in this administration.

We live in a time and in a Ghana we have never lived before with those governing us, sorry ruling us seem not to know what to do.

Speaking of those ruling us, because what is happening in Ghana is not governance but rule, I mean people who lack intelligence, direction, and sound judgement to manage the affairs of a country.

Because these so-called apostles of good governance, lack intelligence, direction, and sound judgement, they have resigned Ghanaians, to a life of misery, penury.

The voice of the people, which it is said is the voice of God, and is to all intent and purposes, the basic dividend of any democracy, the people are denied that as well.

President Akufo-Addo, since he took the oath of office in January 2017, has conscripted the media and some independent voices into his fold, taking away their voices, those with conscience and refuse to be part of them are branded as enemies of the state.

The English playwright William Shakespeare described three ways in which mortals become great. 'Some are born great, others achieve greatness and the rest have it thrust upon them.'

President Akufo-Addo, represents the third way in which mortals become great. His life's trajectory is so surreal that it looks more like a story for a Hollywood movie.

He has been dreaming for this day, since he was young, but as it is said, the true test of a man's character is to give him power.

Akufo-Addo, has betrayed the trust of the people, who saw in him as their messiah. Everyday Ghanaians are presented with new and absurd decisions that, only seeks to serve the interest of some few people.

After the people entrusted their mandate to Akufo-Add, his first major task was to rewrite the history of this country, that to many was, him putting his wrong foot forward.

The Founder's day, which has been observed since 2010, which quickly changed to Founders Day, with a bill sent to parliament. If you are convinced what you are doing is right, why having parliament pass a bill?

He quickly moved to naming institutions of state after his uncle, who in the scheme of things did not contribute much to getting this country to where it is today.

As if that was not enough, basic school curriculum had to be rewritten to include the contribution of his father and uncles in the struggle for independence.

Anybody who makes a meaningful impact in the lives of people, do not need their names and stories written in books for the people to appreciate them.

Ghana, can decide for any reason not to celebrate Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, our founder and first president, but Africa and the rest will. The government can ignore him and try desperately to erase his name from anything Ghana, but outside the shores of this country, Dr. Nkrumah stands tall.

President Akufo-Addo, took the absurdity of his many firsts a notch high, when on August 14, he inaugurated 75 greenhouses and a centre for training of young entrepreneurs which is called the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Dawhenya Irrigation Site in the Ningo Prampram District in the Greater Accra Region. This is the first time in the history of this country, a sitting president, had a government project named after him.

What pertains in the world and Ghana is no exception is that, these things happen when the leader is no longer in office. The principle is to prevent the tendency where leaders will go on frenzy in the attempt to preserve their legacy to name everything after themselves.

Akufo-Addo's predecessors, have all lived by this principle, which is like a moral code. This president, has no shame and since 2017, has only majored in minors.

A leader's works speak for him. Today, the name Nkrumah, can never be wished away not because he was handsome, but because even in death, his legacy is dotted across the 16 regions of the country.

In December, Ghanaians will come face to face with destiny, the name of the country risks being changed, if we repeat the mistake of 2016.

Ghana deserves better than what it is currently getting, the state capture, has permeated every facet of the society, naming of state institutions, has also been added to a long list of what has gone wrong with this regime.
