What Does John Mahama Want To Do As President, Besides Make Nana Addo Ex-President?

Former President Former President

The drum beats are loud, the signs are clear, the voices speak in unison and change is inevitable in the December 7, polls, Nana Addo Dankwa's days in office are numbered, but the critical question on the minds of Ghanaians is does the presidential candidate of the National Democratic want to do, aside being declared winner of the 2020 election?

It is no longer if president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will serve as one term president, Ghanaians are only counting the seconds, minutes, days, weeks until January 7, when President John Dramani Mahama, will take the oath of office.

Not being Nana Addo, is not enough to secure a resounding victory for John Mahama, but if that is the strategy, it comes with huge risks.

I have told friends that, Nana Addo, is not the yardstick for determining what is good for Ghanaians. This is the same man, who in 2016, was virtually on his knees, crying "try me, try me".

Ghanaians were generous, they listened to his plea, when he came to them meekly like a cat, he has been tried and unfortunately, he has woefully failed.

The December 7, presidential election, is John Mahama's to lose. I have said this before and I will reiterate that, what president Mahama, did in his four years as Commander-in-Chief of this country, can only be compared to our first president and founder, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

He laid the foundation, not only for the transformation of this country, but economic take-off. The scales are off the eyes of Ghanaians and they can see that they were deceived to reject a Messiah, who was leading them to the promise land.

Destiny is upon us again in December, we are going to choose between light and darkness, democracy and dictatorship, freedom and oppression, economic empowerment and poverty, rule of law and rule of men, jobs for all and jobs for family and friends etc.

I have no that in my mind that, the right decision would be made to once again bring this country onto the path of progress.

It is already an established fact that after the thieves in power in power today, have raped, debased, degenerated, denigrated and destroyed both our common patrimony, there is no other means to making the country work other than putting the country back in the hands of the capable man; John Dramani Mahama.

But first things first, you cannot drive forward and keep looking in the rear view mirror. What is in the past is in the past, we can only move forward by looking forward.

President Mahama, has shown that, given the opportunity he is capable of rising to the occasion, because his track record is there as a testament to his work.

But if there was anything the 2016 election, has thought us, it is that, work without words, does not appeal to Ghanaians.

Nana Akufo-Addo, won the 2016 election because he out spoke John Mahama. John Mahama, had a superior argument because he was a president in motion, his words were going to be backed by action, because the work he did was there for all to see.

We have started another round of cheap talk from the NPP. The NDC, should not sit by and allow the New Patriotic Party to detect the terms of this election.

The administration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, rode to power on the Pegasus of change. But after it took the mantle, it cast overboard every pretension, and asked citizens to seek the change themselves by abandoning the projects they inherited from the previous administration. They did a 360 and reset the country back to the dark days of insecurity, hardship etc.

In 2016, when other countries voted for change, Ghanaians voted for chance, because Nana Akufo-Addo said, we should try him.

He told Ghanaians by he will defy the tradition (Danquah, Busia, Dombo) and change Ghana for good. By chance, he would provide sustainable development across the nation. By chance, he would give us the right level of infrastructures. By chance, sanctity of lives would be promoted.

By chance, corruption will be a thing of the past and those found to have soiled their hands will be put before the law courts. By chance they will not be family and friends government. By chance Ghanaians will feel safe and secure.

Now, let me confess my "sin". I voted for John Dramani Mahama, both in the 2012 and 2016 presidential election. I have sworn that I can never and will never vote for enemies of progress in the "club" called New Patriotic Party (NPP).

You can imagine why John Dramani Mahama losing the December 7, election is not only a personal disaster but a national tragedy for the masses of innocent poor people of this country, whose destiny have been raped by this people.

The journey to the flagstaff house, has been made easier for John Mahama, when the vice-president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, chose to the lead the NPP to the slaughter house, when he decided to talk about infrastructure.

It was a fatal mistake and a miscalculation on their part, because when it comes to infrastructure president Mahama, has no equal in the fourth republican dispensation. Development it is said, is never in abeyance, and so it will be wrong to suggest that the NPP, has not done anything, but infrastructure is not the strong suit of the current government. You learn to choose your fight wisely.

President Mahama, after just three and half years of the Akufo-Addo administration, has claimed his right of place among Ghanaians. He is more trusted than Akufo-Addo that is why I said that, this election is his to lose.

Although the NDC is yet to launch its manifesto, it will not be out of place for president Mahama to make bold his policies and programmes.

Ghanaians know what he can do, his track record is there, but the future matters more to people than the past, which is why we want to know what he intends to do as president, besides make Nana Akufo-Addo an ex-president. That so far is not exactly clear.
