Ibrahim Mahama Chases Maurice Ampaw & Wontumi With 2 Million Defamation Lawsuit

Business mogul and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Engineers & Planners (E&P), has sued Lawyer Maurice Ampaw and Wontumi Communications Ltd, at an Accra High Court, for defamation.

Ibrahim Mahama, is asking for damages to the tune of 2 million Ghana cedis against the two for publishing untrue and malicious statements about him.

Portions of the writ filed by Reindorf Twumasi Ankrah state that, the statement made by Maurice Ampaw and published by Wontumi television that Ibrahim Mahama by means of fraud, obtained a bauxite agreement is defamatory. 

Mr Mahama's companies and combined total staff strength is over 3000 employees, therefore cannot be described as a liability to the state.

The lawyer argues that, the statements by Maurice Ampaw, conveyed to the general public that, Ibrahim Mahama was recently adjudged the African Industrialist of the year 2018, is a useless man and of no benefit to the state.

It said, it also portrayed him as a fraudulently person, who engaged in fraud to obtain a bauxite contract.
