A civil society group going by the name – Gallant Democrats for Accountability, has called on President Akufo-Addo to wipe the tears of grieving relatives whose kinsmen were killed during the December 2020 elections, instead of dinning and winning as he turn 77.

Eight persons were shot dead in the country during the 2020 general elections. Gallant Democrats for Accountability, believes justice has not been served. The group has expressed disappointment that this killing might end up joining the list of unresolved cases.

Below is the statement.

Press Release. 29/03/2021.

May the ghosts of the 2020 elections victims hunt you!

It is worrying and disgusting that months after the gruesome killing of eight gallant souls in an elections widely said to have been rigged, the president and commander-in-chief of the Ghana Armed forces, who is 77 years old today, has found silence as the best answer to the inhumane issue.

As many are preparing to hypocritically wish you well in your new age, we wish to mourn the departed souls with you. Many will dine and wine with you, but we are here to morn. All is not well! Eight souls are gone in a mere elections. The president has not found space in his dark-heart to commiserate with the bereaved. This is un-Ghanaian!

Shamefully and embarrassingly, the first deputy speaker of parliament, Joe OseiOwusu got the heart to describe the innocent souls as criminals. This is baloney!

We remind all well-meaning Ghanaians who were loud under the presidency of John Mahama to speak up on this matter. The peace council has failed us as a country. Justice must be served!

We urge the president to reflect on the future implications of the killings and as such wipe the tears of the bereaved instead of dinning and wining as he turns 77.

We humbly called on the next government of the NDC to wholeheartedly probe this matter to its fullest. Someone must be punished!

This matter must not join the uninvestigated list of cases in the country. Did we hear that president AkuffoAddo acted as a lawyer on human rights case in the past?

May God bless our homeland Ghana and make us great and strong.
