Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker for the Zebilla Constituency in the Upper East Region, John Ndebugri, who not long ago, described President Akufo-Addo, as an untruthful person, has fired another missile at the President, accusing him of practicing ethnocentrism and failing to honour his "many, many promises" to Ghanaians.
Giving reasons behind his open campaign against his party, the former Secretary in Jerry Rawlings' Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC) said that Mr Akufo-Addo, in opposition, accused Mahama of running a family and friends' government, but he is now doing worse things than was seen under the erstwhile administration.
Addressing supporters of the NDC last weekend during a health walk in Zebilla, Mr Ndebugri said, "I am neither NDC nor NPP but I want to join forces with my brother Mahama to rescue Ghana from the current mess".
"President Nana Akufo-Addo, in opposition, promised many many things which he has not fulfilled," he added.
He cited the appointment of Joyce Bawah Mugtari, a cousin to the former President and some few friends which became a major campaign tool for the NPP, then in opposition.
"But now, hardly will you hear names from the Jubilee House like Nuhu, Ibrahim, Abugri. Those there are all Akufo-Addo's family and friends," he said.
"In 2016, Akufo-Addo told us to try him and if he didn't do well, we can kick him out so we are kicking him out on 7th December, because he didn't do well, he didn't do well. One village one dam, one district one factory, in Garu how many dams are there, Garu factory where is it located and what does it produce, Bawku factory what does it produce, Zebilla factory what does it produce, Pusiga factory what does it produce?" he asked.
Mr Ndebugri insists, his intention is to rescue Ghana from the mess created under the watch of President Akufo-Addo.
The Private Legal Practitioner who has, for some time now, been attacking the NPP, said things are not going well as expected.
Not long ago, he publicly declared that due to the President's untruthful nature, the people of Ghana will vote massively to boot him out of office.
Toward this objective, he said, there was the need for him to join Former President John Dramani Mahama to rescue the country from the mess it finds itself in.
In July this year, the ex-MP declared, "I want to let everyone listening to your radio within the Kusang kingdom to know that president Akufo-Addo is my friend and he will greet me when he sees me anywhere but I don't want untruthful people. They are untruthful people," he said on Source FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
" When COVID-19 invaded Ghana from the onset, Nana Addo gave an order that, when someone died, he/she must be buried with 25 people in attendance. Contrarily, when he wanted the NIA to continue their registration, he came and lifted the ban on public gatherings from 25 to 100 people. He did this not because of our health but in order to allow the National Identification Authority (NIA) to register the people of his strongholds so that they can be able to register for the new voter's ID card and vote for him," he noted.
Speaking on the ongoing voters' registration exercise, the former lawmaker said it was a calculated attempt by the government to rig the elections in its favour.
To him, the government should have considered the health implications of the registration process because all the safety precautions outlined are not adhered to and could spell doom for the people of Ghana because the number of COVID-19 may spike after the registration process.
"The people at the registration centres are more than 100 people and by the end of the process we are going to record high numbers of COVID-19 cases, there is no doubt about it."
He reiterated the opposition NDC's position for reopening of Schools, saying that "Akufo-Addo opened schools so that they will get access to the students and tell them to vote for Nana Akufo-Addo and if they didn't vote for him, Mahama will come back and cancel the free SHS that they are enjoying, they should send the message to their parents and tell them to vote for Akufo Addo. Politics, politics he has taken ahead of and left us and do not show any concern about our health".
