Residents around Libya-Quarters and surrounding areas at the La-Nkwantanag Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, have commended their Member of Parliament (MP) for his efforts in ensuring the road leading to the Zongo community get asphalted.

Whereas some residents are openly talking about the newest development in the area, others like Miss Lamisi Mankudivi Danaba took to her social media platform Facebook to commend the MP for the work done on the Madina- Libya- Quarters Zurak Park, SDA, Washington and North Legon, Chicago, UN roads in the Madina Constituency, one of the fastest-growing municipalities in the Greater Accra Region with a large number of peri-urban areas in the country.

Other residents took to their Twitter handles and tweeted about the construction of an asphalt road in the Zongo community.

The resident who spoke to this reporter during an interview in the area, whilst the contractor, Useeya Construction Limited was busy asphalting the road did not hesitate to commend the MP for Madina, Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Saddique Boniface for this feat.

According to the residents, they can now go to sleep and not worry about dust covering their properties in the areas.

They contested that the dust generated on the once deplorable roads, have had people's beautiful houses in the area go unrecognized.

For twelve years under the reign of Amadu Sorogoho, the then main opposition National Democratic Congress' Member of Parliament for the area, saw the people wallow in dust.

He said residents in and around Stadium road, Libya-Quarters among others, were the hardest hit by the dust generated by vehicles plying the dusty road, Musah Jajah said during the visit.

"Food vendors in the area are now free to sell their items without worrying about speeding vehicles generating dust onto their items in the area", he maintained.

According to him, issues of dust gathering on the items being sold by vendors along the dusty road in the area, has made many to lose their working capital.

Plea for the road to be only tarred for the past twelve years fell on deaf ears with the main opposition NDC at the helm of affairs, he noted.

"We can now boast of living in a Zongo community with asphalt overlays, which was a preserve of the presidential areas like Osu R.E. East Legon, Cantonments, Labone, Airport residential, Roman Ridge, African Union Village (AU) among others in the country", he argued.

He said the construction of the much-talked-about road in the area, will open up business opportunities for the youth who wants to engage in the business of selling, adding that many avoided doing business along the road, because of the dusty nature of the road.

It will be an add on if the streetlights on the road are fixed coupled with the construction of the multi-purpose astroturf facility also put up by the MP for the people of Madina Zongo, he said.

He was hopeful this will not be last, adding that Madina deserves its share of the developmental projects.

We are the Constituency with one of the leading numbers in voter population, yet we are underserved when it comes to developments such infrastructure.

He hopes the MP, will lead the chart to correct this notion going forward into the December 7, elections.
