A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Goosie Tanoh, is proposing a change in the leadership position of the party, if the party wants to recapture power.
According to Mr Taanoh , the issues confronting the country requires a new party to take power from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking at a forum in Tema over the weekend which was under the theme: PEOPLE'S FORUM : SECURING THE NDC''S FUTURE , Mr Tanoh was of the view that grabbing power from the NPP, will first have to see an overhaul in the current leadership of the party.
Some of the current challenges facing the country he pointed out, includes side-stepping the law and using political power to get what one wants, as well as the current spate of crime in relation to teenagers engaging in ritual murders.
Mr Tanoh who contested the 2016 NDC presidential primaries, indicated that the NDC stands a good chance of recapturing power and addressing the teething challenges confronting the country, if it can first change the current leaders of the party.
In the eyes of Mr Tanoh, the new phase of leadership of the party must start with making the youth between the ages of 18 and 36 get attracted to the party which will increase the membership of the party.
Speaking at the forum was also the former Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC for the Tema Central , Ms. Ebi Bright.
In her opinion, the future of the party, looks bleak if the challenges of the party are glossed over.
She said NDC cannot just win power by thinking that the performance of the NPP is nothing to write home about.
She urged the rank and file to do well to increase the membership of the party, in order to make it chances brighter at the next polls .
Others speakers at the forum were the former Health Minister, Dr .Benjamin Kunbour and the former High Commissioner to Malaysia, Mr Dan Abodakpi.
