The North East regional Minister, Solomon Buor, has attributed the low rate of the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the region to an earlier disinfection and fumigation exercise, instituted by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development in conjunction with Zoomlion Ghana Limited.

As at today, the North East region, has recorded eight (8) Covid 19 cases with one patient still on admission.

Speaking at Nalerigu to launch the North East regional disinfection and fumigation exercise of the second phase of the national disinfection and fumigation exercise ,the Minister, said the region is not resting on it oars.

The second phase of the disinfection and fumigation exercise, is not only focusing on markets and lorry parks, but also public toilets and other public places.

The Minister who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bunkruyugu, further attributed the low rate of infection to the work of the overload of the Mamprugu Kingdom, Nayiri.

According to him, the overload has been taking active part in the broadcasting of the need to adhere to safety protocols which has created the awareness among the people in Mamprugu land on which part of the newly created North East region is.

Last Saturday's exercise in the region, saw the disinfection of the Gambaga market and it's lorry stations which is in the Mamprusi East Municipality of the North East region.

Other places which were disinfected and fumigated by sprayers of waste management giant, Zoomlion , are the markets and public toilets in Lamgbishie which is a community also in the Mamprusi East Municipality.
