Members of the United Cadres Front of Ghana (UCF-Gh) have pledged their support to the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), all progressive forces and well-meaning Ghanaians to ensure that peace prevailed during the forthcoming December 7th 2020 General Elections.
At an interactive meeting with the Director of Elections of the NDC, Comrade Afriyie Ankrah, the cadres reiterated their call that, there is the need for a level playing field to prevail if ourbitter political environment should be a thing of the past.
Members of the UCF-Ghana expressed their disgust about the state of insecurity, intimidation and utter disregard for the laws of the country at the ongoing voter registration centres of the Electoral Commission. In a situation where Security Agencies looked on unconcerned and even reacted in a manner that exhibited partisanship, the cadres said that did not reassure the nation of peaceful elections, come December, 7, 2020.
In response, Hon. Comrade Afriyie Ankrah thanked the cadres for their continued concern for the peace in the country, and assured them that the NDC, as a veritable political party, will continue to project itself as a peace-loving entity. He said he was particularly happy that the cadres, who sacrificed their youthful lives for establishing a democracy that has lasted since the 4th Republic, are still at the forefront of advocating for peace and security of Ghana.
On the state of insecurity at the registration centres, Comrade Afriyie Ankrah assured the cadres that the Party was employing every legitimate means of ensuring that such unfortunate happenings never went on to disenfranchise any qualified voter in the country.
